Beti Rozen was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She has lived in Mexico, Israel and currently lives in the United States. She won four literary prizes in poetry in Brazil and two of children’s literature in USA and Italy and published her stories in China, Israel, Italy, France and the former Czechoslovakia. She has published fifteen books: seven in Brazil: six in the United States, and two in Colombia. Although most of her work is for children, her very first book was a collection of poems called Bolas de Sabão (Soap Bubbles). After her first book came Robinho, o Robozinho e outras Histórias (Robby the Little Robot and other Stories), a work for children, won an award in Italy (Acima-Edizioni Mandala). Later came Tancredo Neves: Gente Pra Gente Lembrar e Relembrar, a biography about the ex-president and then Diário de Uma Jovem em Israel, an autobiography about her life in that country. In the United States, she has collaborated with his husband, Peter Hays, to create Sem Fronteiras Press, a publishing company that is dedicated to producing children’s books that celebrate Brazil, its history, culture and its illustrators. Recent works include A Heart Alone in the Land of Darkness and Stolen Spirit that received a review in Publishers Weekly. Stolen Spirit was adapted into a play by her husband. This book was published in Brazil by Editora Melhoramentos with the title O Sonho do Guerreiro. Other works include Without Words and Annabelle: A Child on the Way. Annabelle was produced in partnership with Mary and Eliardo França publishing company. Her books, Tenemos que Encontrar a Froggy and Dos Continentes,Cuatro Generaciones were published by Panamericana Editorial in Colombia. And there are Portuguese versions of A Heart Alone in the Land of Darkness (Editora Dimensão-Um Coração a Procura de Abrigo) and Stolen Spirit (O Sonho do Guerreiro- Editora Melhoramentos. Both in Brazil. . An English version, Two Continents, Four Generations is available by Sem Fronteiras Press and the Portuguese version is available by Editora do Brasil. Her stories and poems are included in anthologies by REBRA (Rede de Escritoras Brasileiras) in Portuguese and in French (Divine Edition). Also participated in an anthology of Group Literarte for children, Bed Time Stories Just for You number 4.Other anthologies organized by Acima-Edizioni Mandala in Italy and Ser Brasileiro (Be a Brazilian) by the Embassy of Brazil in Oslo, Norway. Participated on a project The In –Between Spaces of the Literature of the Brazilian Diaspora and Brazilian Literature Abroad .Now on DVD and published in book by professor Else R.P. Vieira from Queen Mary University of London. She is member of American Organization of Teachers of Portuguese (AOTP), Centro Cultural Brasil-USA (Florida), Brazilian Endowment for the Arts (New York) and Academy of Literature and Arts of city of Buzios , Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She represents the Brazilian newspaper in USA called Sem Fronteiras.She got the Brazilian International Press Award in Literature, and Machado de Assis Medal from Brazilian Endowment for the Arts.
