Their stories and those of their families are told in flashes that intertwine and complement each other. The background for the1940s is the Vargas dictatorship, while the 60s and 70s are set against the military dictatorship - responsible for destroying the ties between the characters. Remnants leave their mark on each one, defining their paths. Distinct voices in different eras and locations cross paths in the narrative. The past is presented through letters, memoirs, newspaper articles. Cuttings and snippets show us that history is a continuation, an always now, alive, shaping what we are.
