NOVEL 4. MARION, published in 1999, to celebrate the opening of the cultural project Literary Café of Pernambuco, which she produced.

COLLECTIONS
She has made contributions to a number of anthologies, amongst which are:
1. VOZES: A CRÔNICA FEMININA CONTEMPORÂNEA EM PERNAMBUCO - (VOICES: THE CONTEMPORARY FEMALE CHRONICLE OF PERNAMBUCO)

“ It is certainly a great honor to be given the opportunity of writing the preface of this publication. This highly expressive work stands as an exalted triumph of the creative capabilities of these female authors, all new to the art of writing. On reading this work, it is undeniably clear that what comes through is the impeccable effort and beauty of the authors’ constant quest to create their exquisite pieces of writing.

... This work is illuminated by the art of Love. It transposes all difficulties, discovers routes, and greets and unites the solitudes of the pathways of Peace. With respect for those nearest. Producing literature. With courage. Where the moment that celebrates the Word blossoms from ‘I’, and a Story is created.” – Lourdes Sarmento
The work, compiled by Elizabeth Siqueira and Laura Areias, presents 50 chronicles from the female voices of the state of Perambuco, launched in 2007 by the Companhia Editora de Pernambuco.

2. OLHARES: O CONTO FEMININO CONTEMPORÂNEO EM PERNAMBUCO - (LOOKS : THE CONTEMPORARY FEMALE TALE OF PERNAMBUCO)

In the presentation of this book, the writer Raimundo Carrero states the following: ... “And so? Is there such a thing as female fiction? A male fiction and another female? What’s this all about?...” “Autonomous or not, female literature has gained autonomy and today instead of standing as an adversary to the male universe, it stands as an integral part of the beautiful, enchanting universe of fiction. Suffice it, for example, to accompany or to read with care what unfolds across the pages of this anthology, with its eye bent on life. These are women, female writers from Pernambuco, who have come together through Elizabeth Siqueira and Laura Areias, drawn in so that, reunited, they demonstrate the force of that which has been done individually, and that now may be read in just one volume.”

The collection brought tales together that translate numerous aspects of life. Márcia Basto, together with 21 other female writers, brings her sentiments and experiences to this book, launched in 2006, by Edições Bagaço. The anthology was compiled by Elizabeth Siqueira and Laura Areias.

3. O FIM DA VELHICE – A SUPERAÇÃO BEM-HUMORADA DE UM CONCEITO (THE END OF OLD AGE – THE GOOD HUMOURED OVERCOMING OF A CONCEPT)
“Skeptics say that the passing of time is inexorable. But then there are others who are just as convinced and say that for art lovers, the hour-glass runs so slowly. In fact, nobody escapes the passing of time. But, for the artist, Cronos flows like a poem, leaving its deep but painless marks. Emotional impacts plough furrows through the heart, creating tattoos of light, and liberating internal fire. And, until the contrary has been proven, they feed the melting pot in which the elixir of youth is bubbling, postponing old age and bringing happiness to people”. – Alexandre Santos

“This book unites the expectations of so many, to which I now join my own feelings. As light and as gentle as a breeze that blows through a garden and soothes me with each coming morning”. - Waldênio Porto.
During the work, the readers may wander through the most diverse, controversial opinions of some of these authors from Pernambuco about this phase of life about which there is much to say. The work was published by Edições Bagaço in 2006, and was put together by Jacques Ribemboim and Dulce Albert.

4 ENTRELAÇOS – (INTERLACED)

“There are many owners of these stories. All reunited in this book, they interlace their narratives and, despite the individual thematic variety and stylistic peculiarities, they remain tied to one another by a guiding thread : the gentleness and vigor of female diction (...) the delicate themes and the authors’ literary dominance all guarantee Entrelaços a place of honor in the literature of our state (Pernambuco) as well as in the hearts of their readers who will certainly take great pleasure in reading what each writer has to tell us...” – Heloísa Arcoverde.

Entrelaços, brings together texts by Márcia Meira Basto, Águeda Calado, Ângela Silveira; Anna Karenine; Auristela Oliveira; Cleonice Veloso; Graça Lins; Josinete Targino; Lenice Gomes; Maria Djanira; Monique Becher and Telma Brilhante in a piece of work that reveals female imagery. The book was published in 2005, by Baraúna and was compiled by Águeda Calado and Lenice Gomes.

5. REESCREVENDO CONTOS DE FADA – (FAIRY TALES REVISITED)

“Fairy tales tell of remote origins, initiation cycles and death. They speak from man to man. They are replete with humanity and transcendence, and because of this, they come so close to the unconsciousness of the soul. The more we approach cyberculture, the globalized universe, urban myths and space pirates, we are not too distant from our ancient origins, since the human character needs to have an explanation that goes beyond the concrete and factual. The human soul needs metaphors to reach purer dimensions of spiritual maturity....Thus, I honestly believe that the results of revisiting fairy tales by the study group of the Literary Café of Pernambuco, under the sensitive supervision of Professor Sébastien Joachim, were highly significant. A literature was revealed that tells us more than the secrets of our primordial origins, because they also speak of our most intimate and secret desires.” – Joana Cavalcanti

The collection Reescrevendo Contos de Fada – (Fairy Tales Revisited) – is the result of work by Márcia Meira Basto; Djanira Rego Barros; Lúcio Ferreira; Maria Valderez de Freitas Leite; Telma Brilhante; Luciane Rizério de Oliveira and Edna Maria de Alcântara. The collection was published in 2001 by Companhia Editora de Pernambuco.

6. The author’s essay PARA AMAR CLARICE – (TO LOVE CLARICE) won the first contest promoted by Nave da Cultura during the week Para Amar Clarice, held in Recife 3 - 9 December 2007, and was published during 2008.

The author also develops projects in art therapy and story telling.
